Research Study: The Resonsance Project

Hi everyone!

We were contacted about this current research study on gay men's health and thought we would share it with anyone who was interested in participating.  Full details below.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Resonance Project is a collaboration of four national HIV organizations, three gay men’s health organizations (one of which is the Health Initiative for Men), and the University of Windsor.

In the last few years, there has been a lot of new information about HIV risk and prevention. We want to know what gay guys are hearing about what’s new in HIV prevention, how they’re making sense of that information, and how it’s changing the way gay guys are having sex.

If you volunteer to participate in this study, you will be asked to:
o Fill in a brief survey that collects background information about you
o Participate in a group discussion with other gay men for up to three hours
o In that group, we’ll ask you to give your opinions and thoughts about HIV risk and how new HIV information could affect gay men’s decisions about sex

You will receive an honorarium of $40 to thank you for your participation.

The information provided during these discussion groups will help those working in HIV prevention to identify how they can integrate new HIV information into prevention programs, resources and policies for gay men in Canada.

If you’re interested in participating in the discussion group, you can call our research moderator at 1-855-590-9541 (it’s a toll free number don’t you worry). He will ask you a few questions to see if you are eligible to participate. If you’re eligible and still interested, he will let you know when and where the discussion group will take place.

For more information you can e-mail resonancebuzz@gmail.com or check out their website at http://www.catie.ca/en/resonance.

Totally Outright 2013: A 4-Day Leadership Workshop for Young Gay Guys

Hello again everyone! We have found some more exciting news!

The Health Initiative for Men (HiM) is now accepting applications for Totally Outright 2013.

What is Totally Outright you might ask? Here is a short blurb from their webpage.

Totally Outright is a four day leadership workshop for young gay guys (18-26, but exceptions may be possible) interested in being healthy, sex-savvy trendsetters. Over two weekends you and twenty other young gay men will participate in interactive, thought provoking presentations from community leaders and experts in gay men's health. Topics range from coming out to gay sex, drug related harm reduction to relationships, and a whole lot in-between.

If you have additional questions, feel free to take a look at their webpage at (http://checkhimout.ca/totallyoutright/) or e-mail them at totallyoutright@checkhimout.ca

Fun fact of the day: The concept and creation of the Qnnecting website came from participants of the Totally Outright program last year and is continuing to gain amazing support from everyone in the community! Thank you!
