Who would have thought that a trip to the Central Branch library would spark
another qnnecting opportunity!The idea is simple but genius! Read dating (a play on the word speed dating) involves a group of GLBTQ attendees getting together and bringing along their favourite book, DVD or CD as a conversation starter. Everyone is given a pseudonym, a character from a GLBTQ novel, and will get to meet, greet, and chat up 12 other read daters. After the event, VPL kindly creates a separate email account to allow attendees to qnnect with others they would like to see again.
We love how superbly organized this event is, from the wonderful pseudonyms to the innovative icebreaker. If you are a lover of books, music and/or movies, we would highly recommend this event. In fact, we’ve got a resident bibliophile on the Qnnecting team who plans to attend.
